At separate events held in Baton Rouge recently, the American Advertising Federation-Baton Rouge and Public Relations Association of Louisiana handed out their annual awards to area advertising and public relations professionals.

At the AAF-BR annual awards show held at L’Auberge Casino & Hotel, Tilt brought home the Best of Show Overall award for it’s “Brew at the Zoo” campaign for the Baton Rouge Zoo. Other top award winners were Lamar Advertising Company, Covalent Logic, Louisiana Economic Development, dezinsINTERACTIVE, MESH, BREW Agency, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana and BRZoom.

Also, AAF-BR posthumously awarded Jeff Wright of Wright Feigley Communications the 2015 E.A. “Pete” Goldsby Silver Medal Award. Wright died at the age of 55 last September. Theresa Nguyen of Rockit Science Agency was awarded the 2015 President’s Service Award, while Otey White & Associates Advertising Agency received the 2015 Company Service Award. Meanwhile, at the PRAL-BR awards presentation at Juban’s, Holly Houk Cullen was named the association’s Member of the Year. Trey Williams was awarded Practitioner of the Year, while Venessa Lewis was named Communicator of the Year and Kristine Calongne Sanders was the First Circle Award recipient.

The late Bill Michelet, who died in August and whom PRAL-BR calls the “father of public relations” in Baton Rouge, was remembered with a video tribute. Michelet worked in corporate and external affairs for 27 years at Bell South. He also helped establish the PRAL and Public Relations Society of America chapters in Baton Rouge, as well as the Southern Public Relations Federation. PRAL-BR has more details on all of its award winners.
